Smarter Shopping in Japan.

This store offers tax-free shopping for international visitors and Japanese nationals living overseas. Please check the eligibility requirements and important notes before shopping.

This store participates in the tax-free program promoted by the Japan Tourism Agency.

Who Qualifies

Who Is Eligible

You must have the original documents listed below. Copies or photos are not accepted.

  • Foreign travelers: original passport, or the Visit Japan Web screen (screenshots not accepted)
  • Must have entered Japan less than 6 months ago.
  • Visa status must be “Temporary Visitor,” “Diplomatic,” or “Official.”
  • Note: U.S. military-affiliated personnel with a SOFA stamp are eligible even if more than 6 months have passed since entry.
  • Japanese nationals living abroad: original passport (with re-entry stamp) plus proof of overseas residency, or an original copy of your family register addendum (koseki fuhyo)
  • Must have lived abroad for 2 or more years, and this stay in Japan must be less than 6 months.

Purchase Rules

Conditions for Tax-Free Purchases

To ensure fair shopping for all customers, the following limits apply.

  • Minimum amount: Total purchases (tax excluded) must be ¥5,000 or more per store per day (plastic bag fees can be included).
  • Bulk purchase limit: You cannot buy multiple units of the same item/model.
  • Maximum amount: Total tax-free purchases are capped at ¥500,000 (before tax) per day.
  • Frequency limit: Tax-free purchases at the same store are limited to once per day and twice per week.
  • Card name match: If the name on your credit card or point card doesn’t match your passport, that card cannot be used.
  • Note: We reserve the right to decline tax-free service if items appear to be intended for resale or business use.

The following items in our store are not eligible for tax exemption:

Gold/platinum bullion (gold bars, ingots, coins not made into accessories, etc.)
Consumables (items that get used up): batteries, perfume, cosmetics, detergent, hygiene products, etc.

Important Notes

By using tax-free shopping, you agree to the following:

  1. Taking items out of Japan: You must personally take the purchased items out of the country.
  2. Customs declaration: Present both the items and your passport at customs when leaving Japan.
  3. Tax payment: If you do not have the items with you when leaving Japan, you will be required to pay the exempted consumption tax at customs.
  4. No returns/exchanges: Tax-free purchases generally cannot be returned or exchanged.
  5. No warranty: Tax-free items are not covered by any product warranty.
  6. Cancellation policy: If a refund causes your same-day purchase total to fall below ¥5,000 (before tax), the tax exemption will be voided and you must pay the consumption tax on the spot.
